In Dubai, every individual who owns a vehicle is required by the government to renew the car registration every year. Unlike most countries, you don’t just register your car when you buy it rather you renew the registration every year in the Emirate of Dubai.
- For getting the car registration renewed, it is essential that your vehicle is tested from various RTA vehicle centers in the city. If your vehicle passes the test, your car’s registration will be renewed, if it does not, you have to fix the mentioned test(s).
- As UAE is a tourist point, the traffic on the roads is pretty massive thereof the authorities require that the cars are well-maintained. According to a rough estimate, around 25% of the vehicles fail testing because the owner forgot to take care of the maintenance part. It does not matter how clean your car is, if it is not well-maintained you will incur issues while driving it, which is why RTA will not renew your car’s registration.
- Another common reason for vehicle testing failure is oil leak. If there is minor oil leak, naturally we tend to ignore it and drive the vehicle nevertheless. But when you take your car to an RTA center for vehicle testing, they take it in regard and you have to get it fixed.
- Your vehicle having old tyres is another issue which is often overlooked. RTA does not want low-quality or weary tyres, they want the cars running on Dubai’s roads to have good quality tyres.
So next year, when you go to any of RTA centers for getting a new registration for your car, do not forget all these points. Hopefully, you’d pass the vehicle test in one go. Cheers.
